Simplify Your Wardrobe

The best way to save time when it comes to your outfits is to not over complicate things. As women, we tend to own waaaay more clothes than we actually wear. This means our wardrobes end up cluttered and over complicated.

Now, you probably do want to make sure you're starting with a bit of a clear-out and an organised wardrobe. This task may be a little time-consuming, to begin with. But, once you've got this done having a well-managed wardrobe is going to save you heaps of time each morning. Just imagine being able to reach in, grab a couple of items to throw on, and know that you've got a great outfit ready.

To get you started with a clear out, dispose of any clothes you no longer love or enjoy wearing. All these do is take up room and add in confusion when trying to find something to wear each day. You only want to have clothes that make you feel and look good and that bring you joy when you wear them.

To organise, create a system that works for you. For example, I order by item so I have all my tops together. Then jumpers, then skirts, etc. Everyone has their own preference though so find a way that makes sense to you. You could sort by occasion such as workwear. Or, by colours which can help you to easily coordinate your outfits.

If you want to simplify things even further you could create a capsule wardrobe. This is essentially a wardrobe with very few garments but includes pieces that you can create lots of outfits from. So, you're looking at only keeping more neutral, basic, pieces, which can be mixed and matched.

With a simplified wardrobe, you should be able to easily see all your clothes and know which items you like to wear together. That way in the morning you're not wasting time trying to work out what to wear or looking for items that have been claimed by Narnia.

Stick To The Rule of Three

When we're rushing around in the morning we don't want to have to be thinking up fantastical, new, outfits. You just don't need that worry or stress!

The rule of three is simple. Pick a top and bottom (or dress), and add in a third item. So, a t-shirt and jeans become a t-shirt and jeans with a blazer. Or a jumper and leggings become jumper and leggings with a neck scarf.

By adding in a third item you instantly create a fresh and stylish look with very minimal effort. It gives the illusion that you've spent far longer considering what to wear and carefully putting together an outfit. When, in reality, you've just thrown on the same old easy option but added in that little stylish flare.

Other add ons can be, belts, hats, statement jewelry. If you're buying your accessories in neutral colours then you'll be able to add them into just about any of your outfits.

Create an outfit catalogue

This may sound confusing but it's very simple and easy to do! A great time-saver is to have some fail-safe and go-to outfits that you know you love to wear.

Each time you create an outfit that you feel amazing in and is special to you, particularly if it's functional for your lifestyle, keep a note of it. You can note it down in any way you like. Usually, the quickest way is to take a snap of your outfit on your phone and keep this in a photo album.

That way, if you're feeling stuck for ideas or don't know what to wear you can refer back to your very own outfit catalogue.

If you struggle to know where to start when creating an outfit, my top tip is to pick your favourite items and work from there. Do you have an amazing pair of jeans you love? What tops go great with these? Or, do you have a statement blouse you love, again what bottoms work well with it? You can begin to try out different options with these pieces to create lots of outfit options that you can refer back to.

This way each morning you'll always know exactly what to wear.
