How do you want the world to see you?

How many of you think personal style is just aesthetic and, dare I say, slightly shallow? Come now, be honest.

It can be much more important than that though. Did you know a startling 55% of a first impression is based on how you look? So, that top you chose to wear today could be pretty important when it comes to that interview, meeting the potential in-laws, or probably just about any interaction you might have.

As individuals we really need to take the time to think about how we want the world to see us, not necessarily just as professionals but in every aspect of our lives. We want to be able to create a consistent message to people which matches how we look to how we want to be seen.

For instance, a manager within a corporate business who wants to be seen as authoritative and competent should definitely not rock up to the office in a wrinkled, poorly fitting suit. Or, if perhaps you're hoping to seem more approachable in your down time, maybe leave the 6 inch power heels at home.

Understanding your personal style and also how to put an outfit together can make a big difference when it comes to creating the message of who you are. You want to feel comfortable in it so that you seem natural and the clothes are just an extension of yourself.

Take some time to really think about who you are and if the clothes you wear represent that. A good tip is to write down three top words that you would use to describe yourself. Have a look through your wardrobe, do you see these words? You can use this as a basic building block to start creating the perfect wardrobe for you, your life, and your endless opportunities.
